Despite continued delays from lightning and rainfall, it was yet another evening of excellent amusement that had a packed audience cheering in the stands. The Capitals overpowered with bat and ball, scoring 193/6 against the Sunrisers prior to actually holding them to 170/5 for a 23-run win.

Wayne Parnell helped the Capitals surpass 190 by exploding 29 runs, featuring two 4s and three 6s, off only 9 balls to close up their innings. The Sunrisers failed to form any meaningful alliances and frequently lost wickets, with only veteran player Jon-Jon Smuts providing considerable fight with 66 off 51 deliveries.

SEC vs PC: Neesham and Salt’s solid partnership

SEC vs PC: Jimmy Neesham and Phil Salt remained steadfast at this time, and they subsequently came alive to pile up 77 runs off 50 balls for the 6th wicket until Neesham was dismissed by Ottniel Baartman for 37 off 28 deliveries in the 18th over. Tristan Stubbs, the most-priced player in the competition, provided some fleeting optimism with a free-spirited 23 from 11 deliveries, but the Capitals, led by Anrich Nortje, produced a compact, professional bowling effort. Tom Abell‘s resolute 40 not out at the conclusion wasn’t ever destined to be adequate either.

With help from Parnell (1/38), Neesham (1/38), and England legspinner Adil Rashid (1/47), Nortje delivered with great speed to end with 2/18 in his 4 overs.

SEC vs PC: Markram’s side went sloppy in several aspects

SEC vs PC: The Sunrisers never kept up with the pace, managing only 28/2 during the powerplay. And surpassing 100 only in the 15th  over. The sole meaningful stands were those between Smuts and Abell, who put up 65 for the 5th wicket. And Abell and James Fuller, whose 27 off 12 deliveries was inadequate in their unbroken 37 for the 6th wicket.

While opposing Parnell was pleased by his squad’s ability to function as a collective. Which worked extremely well for the remainder of the competition. Sunrisers skipper Aiden Markram noted that his squad was sloppy in all aspects.

SEC vs PC: Smuts’ 66 runs went ineffective as his side registered a loss

JJ Smuts achieved 50 of his own for the Sunrisers in response, scoring 66 runs off of 51 deliveries. But the batting order fell to 68 for 4 due to a lack of significant combinations. At the start of the lineup, the seasoned Jon-Jon Smuts batted by himself. Tristan Stubbs challenged with 23 off 11 deliveries, but his side required significantly more from him.

James Fuller’s unbeaten 27 and Tom Abell’s valiant 40 maintained the battle going. But the Capitals simply had too much offensive capability.

Rashid dismissed Smuts to break the hope of the Sunrisers

Smuts added 65 runs off 39 deliveries for the 5th wicket with Tom Abell, but it was already too long. Adil Rashid ultimately got rid of Smuts in the 17th over. Despite the fact that James Fuller finished the game on a high note by hitting 27 runs off only 12 deliveries.

Pretoria would take the win. Anrich Nortje (2 for 18) and Eathan Bosch (0 for 27) remained the pace bowlers of choice. And Abell concluded with 40 off of 24 deliveries.
