In India vs South Africa 2nd ODI, India beat South Africa by 7 wickets with 25 balls to spare. Indian vice-captain of this series Shreyas Iyer hits his maiden ton. Shreyas scored 113 runs off 111 balls. Shreyas Iyer and wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson remained not out and took the team to the par of the total. Meanwhile Ishan Kishan also scored quick 93 runs in just 84 balls. They both helped India to level up the series with 1-1 at Jharkhand State Cricket Association, Ranchi. The series decider match is scheduled to be took place at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi between India and South Africa.
India vs South Africa: South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first
Interim South African captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss against Shikhar Dhawan and decided to bat first. The regular South African Captain Temba Bavuma has been rested in the India vs South Africa 2nd ODI. South Africa hasn’t got the good start as their opening wicket-keeper batsman Quinton De Kock got out early. Mohammad Siraj got the rid of the Quinton de Kock and bowled him with unplayable inswing delivery.
Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan came with different tactics today. He brought the spinner from the other end to bowl the new ball. Shahbaz Ahmed who was making his debut in this match bowled exceptionally well within the Powerplay.
The other South African opener Janeman Malan who was batting well got plumbed in front of the wicket to Shahbaz Ahmed. Shahbaz Ahmed got his wicket as he caught in front of the wicket. This was his maiden wicket in International Circuit.
Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram gave momentum to South Africa
South Africa were struggling at 40 for 2 when Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram took the charge. They both made a partnership of 129 runs in 21 overs. Reeza scored 74 runs off 76 balls before getting out to Mohammad Siraj. He hits 9 fours and a six. Meanwhile Aiden Markram scored 79 runs off 89 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six.
The other batsman like Klassen, Miller and Parnell scored 30, 35 and 16 respectively. At one time South Africa was looking comfortable to cross the 300-run mark. Indian bowlers bowled well within the last 10 overs and restricted them to 278 runs.
Mohammad Siraj has been the pick of the bowler as he got 3 wickets for just 38 runs. He also bowled a wicket maiden against Quinton de Kock. He learned from his mistakes he made in the first game and bowled beautifully within Powerplay and death overs.
India tumbled in a crucial chase in India vs South Africa 2nd ODI
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and Shubhman Gill came to the crease to start the chase. Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan was not looking good against Wayne Parnell and he gets him out. Shikhar was in tussle whether to go on front foot or back foot and finally he threw his wicket away.
Gill was looking in good touch and played some marvelous cover drive against Rabada and Parnell. Gill unfortunately got out to Rabada where he took the tough caught and bowled chance.
India was in big trouble when Shreyas Iyer entered into the arena. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer took the aggressive approach and showed positive intent in the ground. Ishan played quick fire innings of 93 runs off 84 balls.
He smashed the South African bowler all over the park. He smashed 4 fours and 7 sixes in his 84 balls innings. Sanju Samson made 30 runs off 36 balls at the end and took Indian team over the line along with Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer Scored his maiden ODI ton
Shreyas Iyer who is the Standby player in the T20I World Cup for the Indian team. He proved his value in this match and played a sensible knock of 113 runs in a do or die encounter match. He scored 113 runs in 111 balls. Shreyas also got awarded with Player of the Match award.
Shreyas Iyer is looking in good touch in this series. He also scored fifty in previous match as well. He will definitely look to finish the series on high in last and 3rd game against South Africa in Delhi.
