India vs South Africa 2nd T20I match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. India beat South Africa by 16 runs to win the first ever series at home against South Africa.

Indian opening batsman Kl Rahul 57(28) and Surya Kumar Yadav 61(22) guided India to score a massive target of 237 runs. Chasing down the target of 238 runs was never an easy task. South Africa batsman Quinton De Kock 69 not out off 48 balls and David Miller 106 not out off just 47 balls gave their best but South Africa finished 221/6 in 20 overs. They lost the match by 16 runs. Now both sides will face each other in the 3rd and final T20I match of the series. The last T20 International match of the series will take place on Tuesday at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

Earlier, in India vs South Africa 2nd T20I match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision of bowling first backfired South Africa as India posted a massive score of 237 runs. India opener Kl Rahul and Rohit Sharma gave India a solid start. Both the opening batsmen added 96 runs stand for the first wicket. However Keshav Maharaj managed to take the wicket of Rohit Sharma 43(37) and break the partnership. After smashing 57 runs off just 28 balls Kl Rahul also got out to Keshav Maharaj. Keshav took his second wicket of the match.

Surya Kumar Yadav and Virat Kohli smashed South African bowlers all over the ground. The duo added 102 runs for the third wicket. Surya Kumar Yadav once again played some extraordinary shots and smashed his fifty in just 18 balls. He finished his inning on 61 runs off just 22 balls.

While Virat Kohli scored 49 runs off 28 balls. In the end, Dinesh Karthik does what he is known for. He scored 17 runs off 7 balls and remained not out to guide India to score 237/3 in 20 overs. Keshav Maharaj (2/23) was the most successful bowler for South Africa.

De Kock and Miller lead the chase but fall short

Chasing a target of 238 runs South Africa lost their Captain Temba Bavuma 0(7) and Rilee Rossouw 0(2). Both the batsmen got out to Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh. After that Quinton De Kock and Aiden Markram added 45 runs for the third wicket. Axar Patel dismissed Aiden Markram 33(19) and broke the partnership.

Senior most player of South Africa team David Miller along with Quinton de Kock added unbeaten 174 runs.  This is the highest ever partnership for the fourth wicket in a T20 International match. David Miller smashed his second T20I hundred and remained not out on 106 runs off 47 balls.

On the other hand Quinton De Kock smashed 69 runs off 48 balls. Chasing a 238-run target was never an easy task for any opposition. South Africa batsmen gave everything but still fell short and could only manage 221 for 3 in 20 overs. India won the match by 16 runs and sealed the series 2-0, with a match to go.

Surya Kumar Yadav joint second fastest fifty for India in T20Is

Surya Kumar Yadav smashed his 9th T20 International fifty. It was his third consecutive half-century in the shortest format which came off just 18 deliveries. His 18-ball fifty is the joint-second fastest half-century by an Indian player in the history of T20I cricket. Surya Kumar Yadav smashed 61 runs off just 22 balls, including 5 Sixes and 5 fours. Surya Kumar  Yadav has also become the fastest player in the history of T20I cricket to reach the 1000 runs milestone in terms of balls faced. He faced 573 balls to score 1000 runs. The fastest by any batsman in T20 cricket. He is also the 3rd fastest Indian batter to reach 1000 T20I runs.

Chasing a target of 238 runs was never an easy task but South Africa fought hard. David Miller made 106 runs off just 47 balls. Miller smashed 7 sixes and 8 fours as South Africa fell 16 runs short of the total. After losing three early wickets South Africa were on 47/3. But after that David Miller along with Quinton de Kock 69(48) added an unbeaten 174 runs stand to take South Africa to 221/3 in 20 overs and falling just 16 runs short.
