In India vs South Africa 3rd ODI, International match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. India beat South Africa by 7 wickets in the third and final ODI match of the series to win the series 2-1.  Indian bowlers displayed some dominating bowling performance. India bundled out South Africa on just 99 runs in 27.1 overs. It is their lowest total ever in ODIs vs India.

India had a target of 100 runs in which opener Shubman Gill (49) and Shreyas Iyer (28) batted maturely to achieve the target in just 19.1 overs. Meanwhile Shubman missed his half century by just one run.

India vs South Africa: India won the toss and decided to bowl first

Indian Skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to field first. After being Invited to bat first South Africa did not get a good start as their opening wicket-keeper batsman Quinton De Kock got out early. Washington Sundar takes the wicket of Quinton De kock as South Africa were on 7/1. After that Mohammad Siraj dismissed Janneman Malan (15) and Reeza Hendricks (3) in two consecutive overs. South Africa were on 26-3, then Indian spinner did not gave any chance to South Africa Batsman to recover.

South Africa were never in the game as they start losing their wickets in quick intervals. Indian spinners took 8 wickets as the trio of Washington Sundar (4-15-2), Shahbaz Ahmed (7-32-2) and Kuldeep Yadav (4.1-18-4) help India to bowled out South Africa on 99 runs.

India started their chase with the bang in India vs South Africa 3rd ODI

Chasing down a target of 100 runs, Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan gave India a strong start as they added 42 runs for the first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan departs on 8 while Shubman Gill played a beautiful knock of 49 runs and missed his half century by just one run.

India comfortably chased down the target. The man in form Shreyas Iyer hits the winning run for his team and finish the game with a six. India chased down the target in just 19.1 over and clinch the series with 2-1.

The Indian Spin trio claimed 8 of the 10 wickets

It was a dominant show from the Indian spinners as they manage to bowl out South Africa on 99 runs. The South Africa batting line up was completely blown away by the Indian spinners. The trio of Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav claimed 8 of the 10 wickets. Indian Spinner Washington Sundar (4-15-2), Shahbaz Ahmed (7-32-2) and Kuldeep Yadav (4.1-18-4) helped India to win the match.

Kuldeep Yadav missed the mouthwatering Hattrick

Kuldeep Yadav was on the verge of his third hattrick of the ODI career. It was the 27th over of the South African innings. He came round the wicket to Fortuin and caught him in front of the wicket as he got LBW out. The next batsman was Nortje to face Kuldeep Yadav. This time Kuldeep came over the wicket to Nortje and he bowled him with absolute beauty. It was the mouthwatering chance for him to get the hattrick as the next batsman was the number 11 Lungi Ngidi. Somehow, this time he changed the angle and came round the wicket to Ngidi. The number 11 Ngidi took one step forward and placed the ball along the ground. He missed his hattrick which was on the cards. On any other day he could have done this but not this time.  

Player of the Series and Player of the Match Award

Mohammad Siraj received the Player of the series Award for his extremely good bowling performance. He took 5 wickets in the series. He was phenomenal with the ball throughout the series. Mohammad Siraj is likely to get selected as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement for the T20 World Cup ahead of Mohammad Shami.

Kuldeep Yadav received the Player of the Match Award. He registers the figure of 4.1-18-4.
