South Africa vs Bangladesh 22nd T20 World Cup Match: In the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup between South Africa vs Bangladesh at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. Rilee Rossouw helped South Africa to defeat Bangladesh by 104 runs. A much needed win for them after their first match washed out against Zimbabwe. This win put them on the top of the table of Group 2 and also boost their net run rate.
Chasing the target of 206 runs, Bangladesh team was reduced to 101 runs. Apart from Liton Das (34), none of the Bangladesh batsmen could stand infront of South African Bowlers.
South Africa vs Bangladesh: South Africa Skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to Bat first
After elected to bat South Africa lost their captain early. Taskin Ahmed removed South Africa Captain Temba Bavuma on the score of 2 runs. However, de Kock and Rilee Rossouw rebuilt the innings quickly, giving their side a cracking powerplay with 63/1 on board.
Rilee Rossouw along with Quinton De kock smash Bangladeshi bowlers all over the ground. Rossouw smash 21 runs in Shakib over. De kock and Rossouw tore into the Bangladesh attack, taking 21 off Taskin Ahmed second over. Rilee Rossouw hit his Second T20 International Hundred. He score 109 runs off 58 balls while Quinton De kock smash 63 runs off 38 balls. The duo added 168 run stand for the second wicket which help South Africa to finish their inning on 205/5 in 20 overs.
Bangladesh surrendered as they were nowhere in the game
Chasing a massive total of 206 runs Bangladesh bowled out on 101 runs in 16.3 overs. Bangladesh could not find its feet in the match from the very beginning. They lost four wickets in the power play.
The first wicket fell for 26 runs, after that there was a flurry of wickets. Apart from Liton Das (34), none of the Bangladeshi batsmen could stand infront of South African Bowlers. For South Africa, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi took 4 and 3 wickets respectively, while Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada got 1-1 success.
Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw add 168 run for the Second Wicket
De Kock and Rossouw registered the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of the T20 World Cup. They both added 168 run for the second wicket. Quinton de Kock got out for a brilliant 63 in 38 balls while Rilee Rossouw ended his inning on 109 run in 56 balls.
They broke the record of Sri Lanka Batsman Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene they added 166 runs for the Second Wicket against West Indies in 2010 World Cup.
Rilee Rossouw hit his Second T20 International Hundred
Rilee Rossouw scored the first century of this T20 World Cup. He is also the first batsman of his team to score a century in the history of this tournament. This is the second century of his T20 career.
He smash 7 Fours and 8 Sixes and ended up making 109 runs off 56 balls. He also got the Player of the match Award.
