Meerut Lok Sabha constituency is among 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This constituency encloses parts of the Meerut and Hapur districts. According to the 2011 census, approximately out of a total of 2521383, 70.45% is urban and 29.55% is rural. The ratio of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are 18.92 and 0.05 respectively.
According to the voter list of 2022, there are 1957874 voters and the number of polling booths in the constituency is 2185. In the 2019 parliamentary election, the voter turnout was 64.29% while it was 63.12% in the 2014 parliamentary election. The BJP, INC, and BSP got 48.19%, 2.83%, and 47.8% respectively in the 2019 parliamentary election. Whereas the BJP, INC, BSP, and SP got 47.87%, 3.85%, 27%, and 19.02% respectively in the 2014 parliamentary election. Rajendra Agarwal of BJP is the current Lok Sabha MP of Meerut parliamentary constituencies. He achieved the Meerut Lok Sabha constituency by beating Haji Mohammad Yaqub of BSP on the verge of 4,729 votes.

Rajendra Agarwal: Current Member of Parliament of Meerut Lok Sabha
Rajendra Agarwal is an Indian leader and a representative of the 17th Lok Sabha of India. He acts for the Meerut Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh and is a representative of the Bhartiya Janata Party. He has been appointed as a Member of Parliament from the Meerut-Hapur constituency thrice since 2009. He is the presider of the Committee on Government Assurances and also a representative of the panel of chairpersons of Lok Sabha.
He was also the presider of the Joint Parliamentary Committee of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Agarwal began his political career being the President of BJP Meerut Mahanagar in 1997. He came to the supervisor of the BJP Intellectual and Training Cell of Western Uttar Pradesh in 2000. He was also embellished as the secretary of BJP, Western Uttar Pradesh in 2002 and remained constant in the post till 2007.
He became the President of the BJP Intellectual Cell, in Uttar Pradesh in 2007. Agarwal competed from the Meerut-Hapur Lok Sabha constituency in the general election of 2009 and got successful in the seat. He was re-appointed from the seat in 2014 by a record verge of over 2,30,000 votes. He again achieved the Lok Sabha seat of the Meerut-Hapur constituency by beating his opponent Yaqoob Qureshi in 2019 and became a member of the 17th Lok Sabha.
When Did the First Parliamentary Election Occur?
The first parliamentary election was held in 1952 and Shah Nawaz Khan was appointed as a Member of Parliament. He has correlated with the Indian National Congress. He was an Indian leader and worked as an officer in the Indian National Army during World War II. Successfully competed in the first Lok Sabha in 1952 from Meerut he possesses an eminent parliamentary career. He was appointed four times to the Lok Sabha from the Meerut constituency in 1951, 1957, 1962, and 1971. He lost the Lok Sabha election from Meerut in 1967 and 1977.
