New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is among 7 Lok Sabha constituencies in the Indian national capital province of Delhi. This constituency came to a continuation in 1951. It is the earliest constituency of Delhi that recently exists. New Delhi parliamentary constituency is situated in the South, West, Central, New Delhi, and South East districts of Delhi. As per the 2011 census evaluated, out of a total of 1517200 population, 100% is urban population and 0% is rural. The ratio of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is 17.99 and 0 respectively out of the entire populace.

According to the 2020 voter list, there are 1654984 voters and 1609 polling booths in this constituency. In the 2019 parliamentary election, the voter turnout was 56.91% while it was 65.11% in the 2014 parliamentary election. The BJP, AAP, and INC acquired 54.77%, 16.33%, and 26.91% votes respectively in the 2019 parliamentary election. On the other hand, the BJP, AAP, and INC received 46.75%, 29.97%, and 18.86% in the 2014 parliamentary election. Meenakshi lekhi of the Bhartiya Janata Party is the current MP of the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

Meenakshi Lekhi of BJP gained the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency on the verge of 2,56,504 votes by beating Ajay Maken of the Indian National Congress. Meenakshi Lekhi obtained 5,04,206 votes. Whereas Ajay Maken received 2,47,702 votes. The turnout was counted as 9,20,567. Kasturba Nagar, New Delhi, Patel Nagar (sc), R K Puram, Moti Nagar, Delhi Cantt, Malviya Nagar, Karol Bagh, Rajinder Nagar, Greater Kailash are the Assembly Constituencies embodied in the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

Meenakshi Lekhi is an Indian leader and contemporary Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India since 7 July 2021. She is a Member of Parliament in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha from the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency from the Bhartiya Janata party. She is also an advocate in the Supreme Court of India. She achieved the eminent New Delhi parliamentary constituency as a candidate of BJP in the 2014 elections and was re-appointed in 2019.

New Delhi Lok Sabha: She was assigned as a presider on the Committee of Privileges of the Lok Sabha in parliament in July 2016. On July 26, 2019, Lok Sabha spokesperson om Birla assigned Lekhi as a presider of the parliamentary committee on the Public pledge and has maintained since then at that place. She began her political career by associating with the Bhartiya Janata Party. She speedily stood up to ranks and was assigned as one of the Vice Presidents of its women’s section BJP Mahila Morcha in 2010 by then president of the party Nitin Gadkari. 

Lekhi was regarded as the powerful supporter of then Gujarat’s Chief Minister Narendra Modi inside the party. She further competed in the elections in the 2014 parliamentary elections from the New Delhi constituency and beat existing Ajay Maken on the verge of 270,000 votes. She is presently the representative of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

New Delhi Lok Sabha: The first parliamentary election was held in 1952. Sucheta Kripalani of the Kisan Mazdoor Praja Party was a Member of Parliament. She was an Indian politician as well as a freedom fighter. She was India’s first Chief Minister working as the leader of the Uttar Pradesh government from 1963 to 1967. In 1952 for the first Lok Sabha election she competed from New Delhi on a KMPP ticket. She beat Congress candidate Manmohini Sahgal. After five years she was reappointed from the same constituency but as a candidate for Congress. She was one last time appointed to the Lok Sabha in 1967 from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda constituency.
