IND VS AUS: India beat Australia by an inning and 132 runs in the first test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 at Nagpur, Maharashtra. India takes the lead of 1-0 in the 4 Test Match series of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Australia bowled out for just 91 runs in the second innings. Steve Smith remained not out throughout the innings on 25 runs. Indian spin all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja claimed 5 and 2 wickets respectively. On the other hand, Axar Patel got 1 and Mohammed Shami 2 wickets in the 2nd innings of Australia. The next match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy will take take place in Delhi at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

IND VS AUS: Indian team resumed their first innings from 321/7 on Day 3. Ravindra Jadeja departs early for Todd Murphy. Jadeja got out while leaving the ball and was nicely set up by Todd Murphy. He could only manage to add 4 runs in his previous day’s stats as he got out on 70 runs.

Axar Patel and Mohammed Shami added 52 runs for the 8th wicket. Shami played an aggressive role in the partnership. He scored 37 runs out of the 52 runs partnership. Shami smashed 3 huge sixes and 2 backfoot punch drives in his short and crucial innings.

IND VS AUS: This partnership for the 8th wicket frustrated the Kangaroos which can be seen obviously on their face during the field. Shami got out to Debutant Aussie spinner Todd Murphy. He was trying to send the ball out of the park but mistimed the shot and Aussie wicketkeeper Alex Carey completes the catch. It was the 7th wicket for Todd Murphy in the innings.

IND VS AUS: The second innings of the Australian batting just bowled out for 91 runs. All credit goes to the Indian spin all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin who did not allow the Australian batsman to settle down on the crease. He took his 31st 5-wicket haul in the 2nd innings of the 1st test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Usman Khwaja got out cheaply to Virat Kohli by Ravichandran Ashwin at slips.

Steve Smith was the lone warrior who showed some resilience against the Indian spinners and remained not out on 25 at the end of the 2nd innings. None of the other Australian batters showed the courage to stay on the crease.

IND VS AUS: Ashwin finished his figure with 5/37 in the 2nd innings of the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. 4 out of the 5 wickets were of the left-hander’s batters which include Usman Khwaja, David Warner, Matt Renshaw, and Alex Carey.

IND VS AUS: Indian spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is been awarded the Player of the Match Award in the first test against Australia in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Jadeja finished his figures with 7/81 and 70 runs in the match. He took 5 and 2 wickets in the first and second innings respectively.

IND VS AUS: Ravindra Jadeja also scored 70 runs and made a crucial 100+ runs partnership with Axar Patel putting India on top in the first test match. It was a dream comeback for him after a successful knee surgery. Jadeja was out of the field for the last 6 months and made an immediate impact on his return to the National team.
