New Zealand vs India: India beat New Zealand by 65 runs in the 2nd T20I to lead the 3 match T20I series by 1-0. India wrapped up the New Zealand innings on just 126 runs with 7 balls to spare. Surya Kumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda has been outstanding for India as they both performed really well. This was the first match of these two on the New Zealand soil but it didn’t look so. Surya Kumar Yadav smashed brilliant 111 runs not out on just 51 balls meanwhile Deepak Hooda took 4 wickets by giving just 10 runs in his 2.4 overs. The 3rd and final match of 3 match T20I series will be played on the same venue on November 22, 2022.

New Zealand Won the Toss and Decided to Bowl

New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first against India. India made steady start as both the Indian opener Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant added 36 runs in 5.1 overs. The opening stand is broken by the New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson as he dismissed Rishabh Pant on just 6 (13). The strategy of bringing Rishabh Pant as an opener did not worked out as he failed again in the T20I.

India introduced Surya Kumar Yadav on 3rd position instead of Shreyas Iyer. Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan added 33 runs for the 2nd wicket in 24 balls. Ishan Kishan got out to Ish Sodhi on 36 runs from 31 balls with 5 fours and a six.

Surya Kumar Yadav scored most of the runs of the Indian total as he scored 111 runs from 51 balls. None of the other batsman able to contribute much as Shreyas Iyer and Indian skipper Hardik Pandya scored 13-13 runs.

Tim Southee was the most successful bowler for the New Zealand as he claimed 3 wickets against India including hattrick.

New Zealand Got the Shaky Start and didn’t over came of it

New Zealand didn’t start the chase well as their explosive opening batsman Finn Allen got out on 0. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed him on the very 2nd ball of the innings. Devon Conway and Kane Williamson tried to build up the partnership but that didn’t last long. The partnership of 56 runs between Kane Williamson and Devon Conway broke up by Indian spinner Washington Sundar.

After this partnership New Zealand didn’t got the chance to came back in the match as they lost their wickets at regular intervals. Kane Williamson was the only one who stood strong against the Indian bowling line up and scored fine half-century. He scored 61 runs from 52 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Rest of the New Zealand batters got out cheaply and didn’t scored much. Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner made 10, 0, 2 respectively.

Deepak Hooda Shines with the Ball for India

Indian all-rounder Deepak Hooda took 4 wickets for just 10 runs from his 2.5 overs. He just wrapped up the New Zealand innings after getting introduced to the bowling by the Indian Skipper Hardik Pandya. He dismissed Daryl Mitchell, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee. 3 of the 4 wickets he took on his last 4 balls.

New Zealand Pacer Tim Southee Claimed Hattrick

It was the 19th over of the Indian batting when New Zealand Pacer Tim Southee came to bowl. He dismissed the Indian Skipper Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar on back to back deliveries to claim his hattrick. Tim Southee bowled beautifully in the last over of the Indian innings. He bowled the ball with good varieties by introducing slower bouncers and off pace deliveries in the end.

Surya Kumar Yadav Awarded with POTM Award

Indian stylish batsman Surya Kumar Yadav scored his 2nd T20 International Hundred of his career. This was his 2nd T20 International hundred of this year as well. He scored 111 runs on just 51 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes. This was his flawless inning with zero error percentage. He got the Player of the Match Award for this blistering knock. Surya Kumar Yadav also made the record of winning 7 Player of the Match Award in T20I’s in a single year. He surpassed the former Indian Captain Virat Kohli.
