Prior to Hooda and Axar Patel leading Team India to a score of 162/5 in 20 overs, Team India dropped a few wickets early on. While Sri Lanka was pursuing 163, they continued dropping wickets at frequent spacing, until Chamika Karunaratne produced an unbroken 23-run stint. The tourists, though, were bowled out at 160 in the thrilling final delivery, falling behind by 2 runs.

IND vs SL: The Indian top order toppled quickly

IND vs SL: KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma were all absent, therefore the Indian side only used newcomer Shubman Gill as a foundation hitter. Kishan gave them a rousing launch by scoring 26 runs in the initial 2 overs, but the specialists quickly began to play. Theekshana seldom bowled any drives or pulls, and his minor variations increased the risk. Gill attempted to pick up a carrom delivery, but somehow it fell to the pad, where it skidded and was angled to snare him lbw.

Suryakumar Yadav, who was eventually given the chance to bat at No. 3, cue-ended the whole initial stairway he tried in the crucial 6th over that was required to save the powerplay. This seam-up assault might have been building subtly. While implementing Hasaranga, Shanaka deftly slid in an over of Dhananjaya de Silva after assessing the grasp at hand. Sanju Samson was captured at the short third man on the 2nd slog he mistimed during that over de Silva.

IND vs SL: Hasaranga gets Kishan at deep midwicket

IND vs SL: Then, while Kishan and Pandya worked together, Hasaranga cast his web. After going from being 17 off 8 to being 36 off 27, Kishan ultimately sensed the desire to slog-sweep anything. Hasaranga ensures he collects up wickets throughout such time. Kishan was captured at deep midwicket.

India had lost half of their squad for less than 100 as the resurgent Dilshan Madushanka had Pandya squeezed and cutting off.

Theekshana’s initial wayward delivery set the scene. Theekshana brought down an intended googly in the 16th over, presumably trying to break the pattern.

IND vs SL: Hooda thrashed the SL bowlers to make an unbeaten 41 off 23

IND vs SL: With a lifted six, Hooda started moving. Theekshana reacted with a smashing length for the 1st attempt, and, Hooda scooped it up beyond midwicket for an additional 6. Hooda was able to grab one 6 off Hasaranga. As he drove shallower to escape that over when Hasaranga had 1 over at the very end.

Despite a strong finish from Madushanka and Kasun Rajitha, India only scored 34 from the final 3. Axar finished with 31 off 20 while Hooda with 41 off 23.

Shivam Mavi’s class with the ball

IND vs SL: Pandya’s initial over had motion off the field, which he discovered. However, since Malik and Harshal don’t frequently push the seam over. It seemed sensible to have Mavi accept the fresh ball. Pathum Nissanka back-in dismissed by Mavi with his 5th delivery in the international game. De Silva dismissed by Mavi after Pandya bowled a compact over that captured at mid-on.

Pandya delivered during the powerplay, and Malik maintained stress by moving quickly and using precise vision. Kishan raced back to grab a draw that Charith Asalanka top-edged with a superb dive. Kusal Mendis’ flawless timing allowed a slice to carry directly to deep cover, which was fortunate for Harshal. However, his 2nd victim, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who duped into taking a shot slightly earlier on, was indeed a flawless deceit.

Axar prevents Karunaratne to score the winning runs in the last over

IND vs SL: Shanaka seems to be performing on a different track from all of that. Whatever he struck off the bat was exquisite. As soon as Hasaranga accompanied him, Sri Lanka was still in the contest.

India’s wide variety of bowlers came in useful at this point. Having 47 off 4 overs of spinning up until this point. They might have chosen to play no spin in any way. Malik reappeared to just have Shanaka captured at extra cover, while Mavi had Hasaranga trapped at mid-off.

Having 2 wickets remaining and 29 needed off the final 2, it appeared to be game over. Although Harshal produced an unimpressive 19th over to allow Sri Lanka to prevail. Karunaratne was able to reduce the number of runs required off the final over to 13. Thanks to a no-ball, a wide, 2 full tosses.

IND vs SL: Pandya requested Axar to deliver the final over since he still had one to deliver but had previously experienced stiffness. Karunaratne scored quickly to earn it five points off 3. Axar, meanwhile, did not allow the batsman to sneak underneath the ball. And instead let up merely a single from the following 2 deliveries after getting a dot with a wider delivery.
