The much-awaited Women’s Premier League final match was played on Sunday. Mumbai Indians won the TATA WPL 2023 trophy by defeating Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets. The MI team lifted the WPL 2023 trophy in their home at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bat first and they made 131/9 runs only out of which Lanning contributed a major part of the scores 35 runs.

The TATA WPL 2023 season lasted for 23 days and 20 matches were played among 5 teams. Mumbai Indians reached the final match after defeating UP Warriorz by 72 runs in the eliminator match. Issy Wong’s hat trick and Nat Sciver-Brunt’s significant contribution led the team to win the eliminators. The fans busted out of the celebration and congratulated the MI for their win on Twitter. The Capitals were in deep trouble at 79-9, but Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav stayed strong with sharp innings of 27 each.

The TATA WPL 2023 concluded on 26 March and the last match was held in Mumbai and MI won the championship. Lanning of Delhi Capital holds the orange cap of WPL 2023 she scored a total of 345 runs. The highest run-getter of the tournament receives the Orange Cap. Radha Yadav from DC won the prize money of 1 lack rupees. Natalia became the player in the match and won the prize money of 2.5 lack.

Hayley Matthew from Mumbai Indians the prestigious purple cap award. She outperformed the final match and overall WPL playoffs by taking a total of 16 wickets. Although both she and Sophie Ecclestone of the UP Warriorz had 16 wickets, the MI player got the cap for more three-wicket hauls (4 vs. 2). (5.94 vs 6.61).

The team MI lost the first couple of innings, giving the Capitals room to take the lead, but Natalia and Harmanpreet Kaur delivered a strong contest with a 72-run partnership. Harmanpreet eventually went out and returned to the pavilion. Natalia won the best player of the match for remaining in limelight during the WPL tournament. 5 teams participated in TATA WPL 2023 including Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals who won the Fair Play award.

Seeing the excellent performance of Yashika Bhatia, she becomes the emerging player of TATA WPL 2023 and won the prize money of 5 lack rupees. She hit 214 runs with a strike rate of 112.04. The team and fans congratulated the emerging player from Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indian owner Neeta Ambani celebrated her victory with a sweet hug. The overall Women’s Premier League was fun and fulfilling many won many lost and the great victories of MI will be remembered.
