Shashi Tharoor was born on 9th March, 1956. He is an Indian former International Civil Servant, politician, writer, diplomat and public intellectual who has been serving Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala as a Member of Parliament since 2009. Shashi Tharoor’s speech for Modi, who filed his papers today for the Congress President Election, “I think PM Modi’s fluency is captivating and impressive. He is the finest speaker of Hindi ever seen in our country. He was earlier Under Secretary General of the United Nations. Also, Shashi ran for the post of Secretary General in 2006. He also works as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs from 2014-2019. In 2022 the contest for the Congress President Election, Tharoor faces Mallikarjun kharge. Tharoor began his political career in 2009. He joined the INC ( Indian National Congress) and pleasantly represented the party from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Tharoor won the Lok sabha election and became a Member of Parliament. He served as Minister of State for External Affairs from 2009 to 2010 and Minister of Human Resource Development from 2012 to 2014.

Tharoor once expressed that when he started his political career, he was invited by BJP, Congress and by the communists, but he chose congress because he felt conceptually comfortable with it. He contested the Indian General Elections as a candidate in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, for the congress party in the 2009 march. His opposition included Neelalohitadasan Nadar from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), P Ramachandran Nair from the Communist Party of India (CPI), MP Gangadharan of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and P K Krishna Das from Bhartiya Janta party (BJP). Tharoor won the election by the verge of 99,989. Then he was selected as a Minister of State in the Council of Ministers of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

On May 28, 2009, he was affirmed as Minister of State for External Affairs, supervising Latin America, Africa and the Gulf and included Haj pilgrimage, consular, visas and passport services of the ministry. Tharoor was an explorer social media user. He uses it for political interaction. His followers on Twitter were amazing as he was the most followed politician upto 2013 when Prime minister Narendra Modi overhauled him.

Tharoor was born on March 9, 1956. He was the son of a Malayali couple, Chandran Tharoor and Sulekha Menon. He was born in London, United Kingdom. His parents came to India when he was only 2 years old. He joined the Montfort School, Yercaud, in 1962. After that, when they moved to Mumbai, he studied at Champion school from 1963 to 1968. He used to spend his high school time at St. Xavier Collegiate School in Kolkata from 1969 to 1971, Shashi pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Arts from St. Stephens college, University of Delhi.

He had been the President of the Student Union of St. Stephen college and also started St. Stephens quiz club. The same year Tharoor visited the United States to pursue MA. He acquires an MA in International Relations at the Fletcher school of Law and Diplomacy in Medford at Tufts University. After his MA, he joined the Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy in 1977. He did his PHD in International Relations and Affairs in 1978. While doing his doctorate, he was awarded the Robert B Stewart prize for being the best student. He also won an accolade for being the first editor of the Fletcher Forum of International Affairs. He was the youngest to receive a doctorate in history at Fletcher school.

Tharoor was born in London, United Kingdom. His parents are a Malayali couple named Chandran Tharoor and Sulekha Menon. He has two younger sisters, Shobha and Smitha. His father is basically from Kerala. He worked for The Statesman for 25 years and also worked in different positions in London, Delhi Calcutta and Bombay. His concerned uncle was Parameswaran Tharoor. He was the founder of  Reader’s Digest in India. Tharoor was occurring the columnist in India’s best three known English newspapers. These are The Hindu from 2001-2008, The Times of India from 2007-2008, and a weekly column known as ‘Shashi on Sunday.’

He was at first married to Tilottama Mukherji, a half Bengali and half Kashmiri academic. She was the grand daughter of the politician Kailash Nath katju. They both were college couples and wedded in 1981. After they got married, Tilottama took her husband’s last name and began teaching English at Ngee Ann Polytechnic University. She was also working as a freelance writer. They both had twin sons, Kanishk and Ishaan. Ishaan is a former Chief Editor at Time magazine. And now he writes on foreign affairs for The Washington Post. They were divorced at some point, and Tharoor married Christa Giles. She is a Canadian diplomat working in the United Nations. This marriage was for a short time. They don’t have any children. Then again, he married Dubai-based businesswoman Sunanda Pushkar. Under peculiar circumstances, Pushkar died on January 17, 2014 at the Leela hotel at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Tharoor was charged with provoking the suicidal attempt of his wife due to a marital misunderstanding.
