India Legends vs Australia Legends, the first semi-finals of the Road Safety World Series 2022, had to be a two-day affair after relentless rains forced the first semi-final match to be postponed. 

Originally the first semi-final of the Road Safety series was planned to take place on Wednesday only. However the match was halted on Wednesday, September 28 due to relentless rain, and was continued on Thursday, September 29 from the same point from where it was stopped.

First Semi-final Held At?

The semi-finals of the Road Safety is being played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan International Cricket Stadium, Raipur. There were possibilities of rain on Thursday too, so the remainder match started early at around 3:30 PM local time.

Meanwhile the second semi-final match between Sri Lanka Legends and West Indies is scheduled to take place on September 30.

India Legends vs Australia Legends, Wednesday, September 28’s Game Highlights

Coming back to Wednesday’s match, the captain of India’s Legends, Sachin Tendulkar has won the toss and decided to field first in the game. 

Australians were 136/5 batting first in 17 overs when rain interrupted the game with little shower and eventually it turned heavier forcing the event’s officials to postpone the game. 

When the game came to a halt, Cameron White and Brad Haddin were at the crease. White was batting at 6 runs while Haddin remained unbeaten at 1.

From India’s side, Abhimanyu Mithun and Yusuf Pathan picked 2 wickets each with Pathan completing his quota of 4 overs, while Rahul Sharma had dismissal to his name.

The match was interrupted in between and continued from the point on at 3:30 PM on Thursday.

India Legends vs Australia Legends, Thursday, September 29’s Game Highlights 

Australia Legends had made a total of 171 runs at the loss of 5 wickets and gave the target of 172 runs to India Legends to reach the final. 

India Legends showed a great start as they opened with a barrage of 4 coming in from the first 3 overs. Captain Tendulkar with one and Ojha with a couple more. 

The Indian team made 15 runs without losing any wickets in starting 3 overs. Both players were showing good game but Tendulkar was looking dangerous as he was trying to play a premeditated sweep shot.

In the attempt of taking a sweep shot the captain of India Legends gave away his wicket. It’s been just 5.2 overs and the Indian team has just reached 38 runs with a loss of one wicket. 

After Sachin went back to the pavilion, Raina came to the field from India’s side. Meanwhile Australia sent Krejza to bowl in the 8th over.

First 3 balls were going smoothly, India made 3 runs from 3 balls. However, the 4th ball made Raina lose his wicket. 

India Legends Lost Another Wicket

Another blow for Indian Legends as Raina lost his wicket at 54 runs. It’s been 11th over, the Australian team sent Bryce McGain in to bowl in the 11th over. While Ojha was showing his absolutely best performance. 

The Indian wicket-keeper, Naman Ojha pummelled back to back sixes and made his half a century i.e, 50 runs. It’s been just 11 overs and Indian legends were at 93 runs at a loss of 2 wickets.

The game was going quite well for Indian legends but Watson came in to attack and it instantly showed the impact. Watson snapped at Yuvraj as he rattled the Indian’s stumps and Yuvi had to walk back to the pavilion at just 18 runs.

It’s been 13.2 overs, while India had just made 115 runs at a loss of 3 wickets. The 15th over had started and India once again lost another wicket at 122 runs.

Now the game has turned, Watson once again snaps at Yusuf Pathan, Haddin makes a catch, and once again India’s team loses a wicket in just 15.5 overs.

India’s Legends Losing Wicket After Wicket

India was losing one after another wicket, the situation was looking pretty bad for India’s Legends, however as the last 2 overs had left and India still needed 24 runs to qualify for finals. 

Although it looked manageable, just 24 runs in 2 overs but it’s damn pretty hard. However India’s Legends made it look like it’s an easy task as they went one after another sixes.

The 19th over was almost over and the team had made 169 runs at a loss of 5 wickets. The last over was started, Australian team sent Brett Lee in to bowl the last over. 

However, we still had Ojha, he made a single, followed by a wide and boom, all over. Indian Legends won the match by 5 wickets. 

In the first semi-final of Road Safety 2022, from India’s Legends, Naman Ojha made the highest score i.e, 90 runs and Irfan Pathan’s 37 off 12 balls helped India’s team to score a spot in the finals.
