IND vs ZIM 42nd T20 World Cup Match: In the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup between India vs Zimbabwe at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India beat Zimbabwe by 71 runs. Zimbabwe were reduced to 115 runs in 17.2 overs.  Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claimed 3 wickets and helped India to bowl out Zimbabwe within less than 18 overs. This is India’s one of the biggest wins in T20 International Cricket history. With this win, India has secured the top position in its group. India will now face England in the semi-finals on 10 November at Adelaide.

IND vs ZIM: Rohit Sharma Won the Toss and Elected to Bat First

IND vs ZIM: After electing to bat first, the Indian team did not start well; they lost their Captain Rohit Sharma early. He scored 15 runs in 13 balls. He was dismissed by Zimbabwe bowler Blessing in the fourth over of the inning on a score of 27. After this, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli added 60 runs for the second wicket. In the 12th over, Kohli was dismissed by Sean Williams. He scored 26 runs in 25 balls. 

KL Rahul lost his wicket in the 13th over. He was dismissed by Sikandar Raza. Rahul scored 51 runs in 35 balls. Rishabh Pant, who was included in the playing XI in place of Dinesh Karthik, did not bat well and got out early. He scored only 3 runs in 5 balls. India lost his fourth wicket on the score of 101/4. 

After Pant’s departure, Surya Kumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya took the charge. Both shared a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Zimbabwe bowler Richard Ngarava dismissed Hardik Pandya and broke the partnership in the last over. He scored 18 runs in 18 balls. Surya Kumar Yadav finished the inning with a six. He remained not out on 61 runs in 25 balls and guided India to finish their innings on 186/5.

IND vs ZIM: Chasing a target of 187 runs, Zimbabwe team looked under pressure from the first over itself. They lost their first wicket on the very first ball of the inning. Zimbabwe opener Wesley Madhevere got out by Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Virat Kohli on a Golden Duck. After that Arshdeep Singh gave India the second success by dismissing Regis Chakabwa. Zimbabwe lost wickets at regular intervals, due to which the team was not able to reach India’s target. Zimbabwe’s team was all out in 17.2 overs.

Apart from the partnership of Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl, none of the Zimbabwe players could not stay at the crease for long. Sikandar Raza scored 34 runs in 24 balls, while Burl scored 35 runs in 22 balls . Indian bowlers dominated, with Ashwin taking 3 , Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya taking 2 wickets each.

Surya Kumar Yadav Becomes the First Indian Batsman to Score 1,000 T20I Runs in a Year

IND vs ZIM: Surya Kumar Yadav, a Star Indian batter, became the first Indian player to score 1,000 T20 runs in a year. In T20I history, Surya Kumar is just the second player to reach 1,000 runs in a single year. The middle-order batter achieved the feat during a T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match against Zimbabwe at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

He has scored 1026 runs in 28 matches at 44.60 so far in 2022 which is the most by any batter and has scored a century and six half-centuries.

IND vs ZIM: Surya Kumar Yadav got the Player of the Match Award for his explosive inning. He came to the crease when the team was in trouble. He played some gorgeous shots and did the bashing of all the Zimbabwe bowlers whosoever came to bowl at him. Surya Kumar Yadav made 61 runs off 25 balls and smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes in his explosive inning. He hit 20 runs in his last 4 balls he faced in his innings. This was his 3rd fifty plus score in this World Cup edition.

India to Play England in T20 World Cup Semi-finals

India will face England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Semifinals. Rohit & Company will meet England on 10 November at Adelaide. Second T20 World Cup semi-final, with Pakistan playing New Zealand in the first Semi finals on 9th November at Sydney.
