The cities of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela will stage the 2023 Hockey Men’s World Cup. Both the legendary Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar, where numerous magnificent chapters of hockey’s legacy have been etched, and the recently built Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela will host games.

The 15th Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup, the International Hockey Federation’s quadrennial global competition for men’s national hockey sides, will take place in 2023. From 13th January to 29th January 2023, it will take place in the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and the 20,000-seat Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, India.

The Hockey World Cup 2023 will take place in January 2023, according to an announcement made by the International Hockey Federation in December 2018. The aforementioned ultimate 3 proposals for the Men’s World Cup in 2023 were submitted to the FIH. The event will be held in India in January 2023, it was announced in November 2019.

The Hockey World Cup will be held in the State of Odisha in 2023 for the 2nd time in succession as part of India’s hosting duties.

Hockey World Cup: Each nation competing in the FIH Hockey World Cup 2023 is split into 1 of 4 divisions, or Pools.  Argentina, Australia, France, and South Africa are all in Group A.

While Group B includes Belgium, Germany, Korea, and Japan. Group C includes the Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Chile The final one India, England, Spain, and Wales make up Group D.

Indians are anticipated putting up a strong fight amongst the finest players in the globe at home and have a shot at winning the championship. Along with seeming to be the frontrunner, India is up against strong rivals Australia, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

After a 0-0 stalemate in the 2018 finale, the Belgians defeated the Dutch 3-2 on penalties to win the event for the 1st time. In the 2018 Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 3rd place playoff, defending title holder Australia defeated England 8-1 to claim 3rd spot.

Belgium won the Men’s Hockey, becoming the 6th country to do so. The world cup finals’ 1st regular spell without a score occurred. But in a contest wherein Belgium displayed a great defense. The Netherlands lost to Belgium in a 3-2 penalty shootout.

Who will Host the 2026 World Cup?

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) executive council has announced that Belgium and the Netherlands will co-host the 2026 hockey women’s and men’s world championship.

Women’s and men’s sides will compete in simultaneously Amsterdam and Wavre during the joint tournament, which will be conducted in July or August. One host team, either Belgium or the Netherlands, will play every day under the planned structure for the game sequence in an effort to lure maximum fans.
