Gwalior Lok Sabha seat is among 29 Lok Sabha constituencies of Madhya Pradesh in the Indian state. This constituency engulfs the total Gwalior district and a portion of the Shivpuri district. As per the 2011 census, the rural and urban population is approximately 51.42% and 48.58% respectively out of a total of 2710271. The ratio of the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes are 5.63 and 19.86 respectively out of the total population.
According to the voter list of 2019, there are 2000744 voters and 2327 polling booths in this constituency. In the 2019 parliamentary election, the voter turnout was 59.82% whereas in the 2014 parliamentary election it was 52.8%. The BJP, INC, and BSP obtained 52.44%, 40.16%, and 3.74% votes respectively in the 2019 Lok Sabha election whereas BJP, INC, and BSP obtained 44.69%, 41.69%, and 6.88% respectively in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar: Current Profile of the MP of Gwalior Lok Sabha
Gwalior Lok Sabha: Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar born on June 13, 1947, is an Indian leader. He got elected to the Lok Sabha which is the lower house of the Parliament of India from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh in the Indian General Election of 2019 as the representative of the Bhartiya Janata Party. His father Narain Krishna Rao Shejwalkar was selected for the 6th and 7th Lok Sabha from Gwalior (Lok Sabha Constituency) in 2019. He was also a bureaucrat of the Gwalior Municipal Corporation.
When was the First Election Held?
The first election was held in 1952. At that time Member of Parliament was Vishnu Ghanshyam Deshpande from Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha. He was an Indian leader and the General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha. During the time of 1948 to 1952 V G Deshpande was frequently targeted by precautionary arrests.
Gwalior Lok Sabha: On January 27, 1948, he attacked Mohandas Gandhi, asserting Gandhi was accountable for the partition of India. Three days later after the murder of Gandhi by a Hindu Mahasabha representative, Deshpande was arrested. V G Deshpande managed to get selected from two Lok Sabha constituencies (Guna and Gwalior) in the 1951 General Election. In Guna, he secured 56,518 votes beating the Indian National Congress candidate Gopi Krishna Vijayvargiya. In Gwalior, he secured 65,695 votes beating Vaidehi Charan Parashar. He lost his parliamentary seat in the general election of 1957 to Rajmata Vijay Raje Scindia of INC. He completed second with 58,521 votes and later got associated with Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
