At the same time, Bhanuka Rajapaksha struck run a ball 22. However, for England, Mark Wood (3/26) affirms three wickets. While Ben Stokes (1/24), Sam Curran (1/27), Chris Woakes (1/24), and Adil Rashid (1/16) took one each. 

England is through the semi-finals. They are banging Australia out in the process, mainly thanks to the four-wicket win over Sri Lanka. It was a curious puzzled chase in the match in Group 1. Although a target of 142 seemed well within reach after openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales displayed 75 for the first wicket inside 8 overs. England vs Sri Lanka: Pathum Nissanka began amazingly and perhaps showed England the path by targeting the small boundaries. Five of his seven boundaries were sixes. The Sri Lankan team rose to an incredible start against England in their final Super 12 Match despite losing two wickets. Pathum Nissanka has been the prominent architect to make a magnificent start. But on the 3rd ball of the 9th over, fortune did not support him. Batting at 45, he rushed towards the striker’s end as Charith Asalanka called for a single. But in the middle of the pitch, an accident took place between two batters. Nissanka seemed like injured as a physio was called to check him. Sri Lanka began losing power from this time onwards. They added 64 runs more to their tally.

But Pathum continued his good play and ended up with 67 in 45 balls with two fours and five sixes. In comparison, the batters of Lanka failed to find their move and mend a big inning supporting Pathum. 

The Island nation Sri Lanka has two batters other than Pathum. Rajapaksha secured 22 runs in 22 balls, while fella opener Kusal Mendis got 18 in 14 balls. If one takes the contribution of these three batters, the score was 29 together put by other batters. 

Malan Got Off being Injured

An incident took place on the first ball of the 14th over bowled by Chris Woakes. England vs Sri Lanka: England gave a breathtaking match with an inflammable start, 70/0, after the power play. Both Alex Hales and Jos Buttler have fallen to Hasaranga. England was 82/2 at the start of 10th over. Harry Brook was put by Dhananjaya in 10.6 overs. Discharge of Brook, Moeen, and Livingstone were self-imposed. When Ben Stokes entered, all hopes were on him. He has made an ideal position in the format. Stokes came in the strike rate above 100 even boundaries. England’s Adil Rashid was the player of the match.

England and New Zealand into the Semi-final

England moved to the next round as they won their final and crucial match against Sri Lanka. They qualified with 7 points and with better run-rate than the Hosts and Defending Champion Australia. New Zealand was the first team who qualified for the next round from Group 1 of T20 World Cup 2022. Their opponents will be decided on the Sunday from the Group 2.
