ENG vs NZ 33th T20 World Cup Match: In the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup between England vs New Zealand at Gabba, Brisbane. England defeated New Zealand by 20 runs in a must win game. It was a comprehensive victory for England to keep their hopes alive for the semi-final. England grabbed the second spot in the Group 1 of T20 World Cup Points Table. They restricted New Zealand to 159/6 in 20 overs. Glenn Phillips made 62 runs off 36 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. He tried his very best to take New Zealand home but got out to Sam Curran at deep long on. Apart from him no batter shown resolution to stay on the crease.

ENG vs NZ: England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss against New Zealand and decided to bat first. Both openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales gave a very solid start to their team, They both made 81 runs of partnership in 10.2 overs. Mitchell Santner broke the partnership by getting him stumped to Devon Conway. Alex Hales made 52 runs off 40 balls before getting stumped. On the other hand, England skipper Jos Buttler played his role by anchoring the inning at initial stage and then scored runs in the final overs.

Skipper wicket-keeper Jos Buttler scored 73 runs off 47 balls. He smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes in his inning. He got run out by the combination of Kane Williamson and Tim Southee at bowling ends. Williamson collected the ball safely and thrown to Southee who gathered the ball and dismantled the bails with reverse hand throw. It was a good display of fielding by New Zealand on the field.

Liam Livingstone made a quick 20 runs in 14 balls with one four and a six. Meanwhile Moeen Ali, Harry Brook and Ben Stokes made 5,7 and 8 runs respectively. Sam Curran 6(3) and Dawid Malan 3(1) remained not out at the end of the innings.

ENG vs NZ: The trio of New Zealand pacers looked off color as they all conceded more runs in a must win game. Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson was struggling to get the right line to bowl. They were bowling too much full length deliveries to the opposition openers which resulted in a long partnership. England batters are habitual of these lengths.

The trio of Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson conceded 40, 43 and 45 runs respectively. Meanwhile, spinners only conceded 48 runs from their 8 overs. Spinners restricted the England to go past the 200 run total which was looking possible at one time.

He got the rid of the Devon Conway in his first over only. Chris Woakes dismissed his for 3(9) to Jos Buttler. Soon, Fin Allen also got out to Sam Curran caught by Ben Stokes. He scored quick 16 runs of 11 balls with a six. New Zealand lost 2 early wickets for 28 runs within the 5 overs of Powerplay.

The New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and the last match centurion against Sri Lanka Glenn Phillips made a partnership of 91 runs in 59 balls. Kane played a sensible and cautious innings of 40 runs from 40 balls. Phillips played a fiery innings of 62 runs from 36 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Ben Stokes broke the partnership and dismissed the New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson 40(40) to Adil Rashid at short third man.

The whole responsibility of chase came over the shoulder of Glenn Philips as he was the set batter and was striking the ball. Other batter need to stick around him but things did not came as expected. Jimmy Neesham and Daryl Mitchell got out in quick succession and disturbed the plan of New Zealand chase.

Mark Wood and Chris Woakes dismissed Jimmy Neesham 6(3) and Daryl Mitchell 3(5) respectively. Glenn Phillips was the lone warrior as he was trying his best but in the end he also got out by Sam Curran to substitute Chris Jordan at deep long on. New Zealand hopes perished out with the dismissal of Glenn Phillips. New Zealand lost the match by 20 runs to England and only managed 159/6 in 20 overs.

Sam Curran and Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowler for England as they both took 2 wickets each. Meanwhile Ben Stokes and Mark Wood got a one wicket a piece.

ENG vs NZ: England registered a huge win of 20 runs over over New Zealand. England came to the second position in the Points Table of Group 1 of ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Now, New Zealand, England and Australia all have 5 points each. Australia is on the third position due to their poor run-rate and this could cost them hugely later in the tournament. Australia were expecting that New Zealand should have defeated England so that they can qualify for the semis but now with the England win things became stuffy for the qualification and should have to wait till the last match of the League Group.
