The Ashes cricket series between England and Australia is going to take place this summer. England team captain Ben Stokes confirmed the playing 11 for the Ashes test series going to happen on 16 June at Edgbaston. Ben Stokes took responsibility for the captaincy of Test matches last summer. He has requested “fast, flat” pitches for the Ashes Test Series against Australia.
Captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum guided the team resulting in quicker scoring rates and led their team to 10 wins out of the 12 tests played. Ben Stokes has told Australia that England will keep striking as they try to get the Ashes back this summer. Stokes doesn’t think England should adjust their strategy just because they’re playing a tough opponent in Australia.
While speaking to Sky Sports, Stokes revealed that he has spoken to curators about the type of pitches he wants for the Test Series. He wants fast, flat pitches that are responsive to England’s playing style. He mentioned that those pitches could also favor Australia as their bowling attack is strong.
Ben Stokes Confident about Team England’s Approach
According to Sky Sports, Ben is not going to change their approach and he is confident of claiming wins against a strong competitor team Australia “I’m not going to change anything just because it’s the Ashes. I’m not going to change for anything or any situation because then I’m not being true to myself and what I’ve done over the last year”. Said, Stokes.
Test Captain Ben wants to have the best spinners who can throw over 90 mph like Mark Wood, Archer Jofra, and Olly Stone. However, he is not sure to count on Jofra who is not fit due to his shoulder and back problems. Archer plays IPL 2023 with Mumbai Indians who missed the last two matches due to a problem with the right elbow. He has been out for the last 18 months with the same problem.
Ben Stokes said James Anderson and Stuart will be leading the bowling game this summer for the test series, he also added that the duo has adopted England’s attacking approach.
