The Golden Boot Award is presented to the player who secures the most goals throughout the FIFA tournament. If two or more players secure the same number of goals then the number of assists shall be conclusive. Beginning from the 1994 edition FIFA established a tiebreaker structure that if two players were tied on the number of goals. Corresponding to it if two or more players finish with the same number of goals the player who has secured the most in the open play and not from the penalties achieve the Golden Boot. If performers are still tied the one with more assists receives the award. Mbappe received the Golden Boot after his hat trick in the final placed him on 8 goals in FIFA World Cup 2022.

The Golden Boot trophy is given to the player who secures the most goals during the tournament. The award started in 1930 when it was known as the Golden Shoe. Guillermo Stabile of Argentina was the top goal scorer. The Golden Shoe has retitled the Golden Boot in 2010. Reverting to the first World Cup in 1930 no players had steered the tournament in goals more than one time. Thomas Muller of Germany closely dragged the achievement in 2014. He achieved the Golden Boot in 2010 and the Silver Boot in 2014. He finished one goal at the back of James Rodriguez of Colombia.

Guillermo Stabile of Argentina was the first FIFA World Cup Golden Boot achiever scoring top at the 1930 FIFA World Cup in Uruguay the inaugural edition by securing 8 goals. Also included a hat trick in a group stage game against Mexico. For the first occasion, the Golden Boot was distributed among players in the 1962 edition carried in chile.

Six players Valentin Ivanov, Vava, Garrincha, Drazan Jerkovic, Florian Albert, and Leonel Sanchez ended as joint top scorers with each four goals. Beginning from the 1994 edition a tiebreaker structure was introduced by FIFA to spot a definitive winner. This structure stated if two or more players finished with the same number of goals, the performer with more assists achieve the award. However, it did not stop Bulgaria’s Hristo Stoichkov and Russia’s Oleg Salenko from sharing the Golden Boot Award in 1994 as both ended with six goals and one assist.

Harry Kane of England is the securing Golden Boot Award achiever after receiving the honor at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He secured 6 goals for England, leading his team to a fourth-spot finish. Kane started the tournament with two goals in England’s opener in opposition Tunisia prior to securing a hat trick in the Three Lions’ second group stage opposition to Panama. He secured his sixth and final goal in Russia in opposition to Colombia in the Round of 16. 

James Rodriguez of Colombia achieved the Golden Boot Award in the 2014 title as he was the top scorer in the tournament. He ended with 6 goals in just five games one ahead of Thomas Muller for the greatest in Brazil.

Kylian Mbappe of France achieved the Golden Boot award possessing 8 goals. He outscored Lionel Messi who scored 7 goals in FIFA World Cup 2022. The Golden Boot award is given to the top goal scorer who secures the most goals throughout the contest. Mbappe and Messi both were on 5 goals proceeding into the tournament finale between Argentina and France. The contest for the Golden Boot prize given to the top goal scorer of the tournament proceeds into extra time at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. 

Messi set Argentina ahead from the penalty spot and emerged as the first man to secure in each of the knockout stages at a single World Cup since the first Round of 16 at Mexico in 1986. While Maria made it 2-0, Mbappe secured two times in the space of two minutes late in the second half, the first from the place to even up the game and move to the top scoring of the goal list. Messi secured in the second half in the extra time but France even up from the penalty spot as Mbappe finished his hat trick to make it 3-3. The match progressed to penalties.
