Bangladeshi cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has decided not to participate in IPL 2023. All-rounder was all set to play with KKR in IPL this season. Shakib Al Hasan has already missed the first match of KKR against the Punjab Kings because he was busy playing the home T20I series against Ireland. Bangladeshi all-rounder was committed to playing IPL from 8 April to 1 May.
Bangladesh Cricket Board informed BCCI during the IPL auction that Bangla players are committed to playing for their country during that period and hence they are available for a limited time for IPL. The KKR franchise acquired him for 1.5 crores in IPL 2023 auction.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Shakib informed KKR about his withdrawal from IPL on Sunday. The player will be busy playing for his country during KKR matches and he also said that he has “some personal issues” that prevented him to play IPL.
KKR would have to find a replacement for Shakib soon and his unavailability would also impact the team for sure. They are already missing Captain Shreyas Iyer due to his back injury. Now the absence of Shakib is going to make it difficult for KKRs.
