In India vs Australia 2nd T20I, India won the match by 6 wickets against Australia to level the series 1-1. India comfortably chases down the target with four balls to spare. In the rain affected second T20 International, the match started two and a half hour later due to wet outfield and was reduced to 8 over per side contest. India required 91 runs to win. Australia finished their innings on 90/5. Chasing a target of 91 runs was never an easy task. India skipper Rohit Sharma’s quick fire of 46 runs off 20 balls help India to level the series 1-1 in the second T20 International at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. Now both sides will face each other in the series decider. The last T20 International match of the series will take place on Sunday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Earlier, the India vs Australia 2nd T20I match was started two-and -a-half-hour late from its schedule time due to wet outfield. The match was reduced to 8 overs per side contest with each bowler allowed up to bowl 2 overs. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. After getting invited to bat first, Australian captain Aaron Finch got to a good start. He smashed two boundaries in the first over of the innings.

In the second over of the innings, Cameron Green was run out by Virat Kohli and Axar Patel. In the same over Axar Patel bowled out maxwell for a golden duck. The left arm spinner also bowled out Tim David 2(3) and finishes his spell 2 wickets for 13 runs. On the other hand Australian skipper Aaron Finch scored 31 runs off just 15 balls before getting bowled out to Jasprit Bumrah.

Australia was struggling at one stage as they were on 46/4. Their last match hero Mathew Wade once again played a crucial knock for his team. He remain unbeaten on 43 runs off just 20 balls and help his team to reach a competitive score of 90/5 in 8 overs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma lead the chase

Chasing the target of 91 runs, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul smash 20 runs in the first over of the inning. Rohit was dealing in boundaries. Australia captain Aaron Finch brought Adam Zampa into the attack and gets the wicket of Kl Rahul in his first over. Zampa took 3 wickets in his crucial 2 over spell. He dismissed Virat Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav in his second over on the back-to-back deliveries. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma was unstoppable and stayed unbeaten on 46 runs off just 20 balls along with Dinesh Karthik 10(2) who hit the winning run for his team as India manage to win 2nd T20 International by 6 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah made a comeback in a must win encounter

Big relief for team India as thier star bowler is back in the team. Bumrah is the main bowler of the Indian bowling attack. From past few months Indian bowling attack looked weak in the absence of Bumrah. India lost many games while defending the target. India was badly missing their star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. 

Finally, he is back in playing 11 for the first time since the England tour. He conceded 23 runs in his 2 over spell and took the wicket of Australian captain Aaron finch with a brilliant yorker.

Dinesh Karthik: The specialist finisher finished the innings in style

The match went down to the last over. India need 9 runs off 6 balls while Dinesh Karthik is facing his first ball of the match. Dinesh Karthik takes only 2 balls to finish the match. He hits first ball for six and second ball for four off Daniel Sams. India achieved the target comfortably with four balls to spare.

Indian team management and head coach Rahul Dravid was backing Dinesh Karthik for this role. He was selected in the team for special purpose where he could enter the arena and smash the bowler as per the team requirement. We saw in the previous matches also when Dinesh Karthik got opportunity ahead of Rishabh Pant. India was struggling with the finisher role after the retirement of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. We saw in the 2021 T20 World Cup as well. So, captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid banking high on the Dinesh Karthik for the role.
