Hockey WC Final: In a penalty shootout, Germany overcame Belgium 5-4 to capture the 2023 Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. At the conclusion of regulation time, both had scored 3 goals. Germany won their 3rd World Championship after coming from behind to win. After giving up 2 goals in the 1st period. In the 10th minute, Florent Aubel broke the tie, and Tanguy Cosyns quickly extended Belgium’s advantage.

Before the end of the 1st half, Niklas Wellen cut the margin to 2 goals. In the 3rd quarter, Germany was able to tie the game thanks to a penalty corner conversion by Gonzalo Peillat. Germany took the lead for the 1st time in the game in the last frame after captain Mats Grambusch outmuscled the Belgian goalie from the left side. Tom Boon, though, stopped Germany’s celebration and successfully converted a penalty corner with just under 2 minutes left in the game’s regular period.

Van Aubel scored the 1st goal for the Belgian side

Hockey WC Final: Florent Van Aubel caught the ball after a rebound and slammed it hard onto the goalpost to give Belgium the advantage in the inaugural round in Bhubaneswar.

Tanguy Cosyns extended Belgium’s advantage shortly after, easily tapping in after intercepting a precise pass in front of the German goal. The goal ruling was challenged by Germany, but it remained.

Hockey WC Final: The Belgian side tied the game in the 59th minute

Hockey WC Final: Germany tied the game in the 41st minute on a Gonzalo Peillat goal, and 7 minutes later Mats Grambush gave his team the lead. However, the Belgians tied the score at 59 thanks to a penalty corner goal from Tom Boon, sending the game into a penalty shootout.

There were just 2 yellow cards issued throughout the competition. Timur Oruz of Germany received one in the 35th minute, and Nicolas de Kerpel received 1 in the 40th.

Hockey WC Final: Both teams excelled until the Penalty Shootout

Hockey WC Final: Vincent Vanasch, the Goalkeeper for Belgium, stopped a penalty shot early in the 2nd quarter. But shortly before halftime, Niklas Wellen scored for Germany. Gonzalo Peillat then scored for Germany to level it 2-2. And skipper Mats Grambusch slipped a goal past Vanasch to give Germany the advantage 3-2 in the dying seconds.

However, Tom Boon of Belgium tied the score with little over 2 minutes left on a penalty corner, forcing a shootout. All through the shootout. For the Germans, Wellen, Hannes Muller, and Thies Prinze scored. Whilst van Aubel, Cosyns, and Antoine Kina did so for Belgium. After the regulatory period finished 3-3, unexpected decapitation began. Wellen and van Aubel drove the ball in on the initial swing.

Hockey WC Final: Following Prinz‘s powerful strike, German goalie Jean-Paul Danneberg stopped Cosyns’ attempt during the Hockey WC Final encounter. As the German crowd went wild with their 3rd World Championship triumph.

They beat the Netherlands in a shootout to reach the Finals. And they destroyed New Zealand 2-0 earlier in the Tournament. Germany defeated Australia and England en route to the Championship Finale.
