West Zone Wicket Keeper Batsman Het Patel Unbeaten 96 runs keeps west zone alive in the game as they manage to score 250/8 on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy Final at SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore on Wednesday.

South Zone bowlers took the advantage of the freshness of the pitch provided early breakthroughs to his team. South Zone bowler dominated the morning session and do not let the batsman to play their natural shots. They put them under pressure with striking early wickets. The young future batsman like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Priyank Panchal got out early. They left their team in trouble. South Zone bowler Stephen provided the early wickets of both the openers of West Zone. Het Patel took the charge of the inning and build up the unbreakable partnership with Jaydev Unadkat. Jaydev Unadkat played a good hand to take his team out of trouble.

West Zone won the Toss against South Zone and elected to Bat first

Earlier, West zone captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to Bat first. There was no hesitation in his mind while electing the bat. The decision went wrong when both the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Priyank Panchal got out early to Stephen.

After deciding to bat first West Zone lost both the openers. Yashasvi Jaiswal 1(8) and Priyank Panchal 7(9) inside 5 overs as both the opener fails to get a good start.

Things were getting more worse for west zone  as their Captain Ajinkya Rahane departs on 8 runs off 16 balls. Basil Thampi removed the opposition captain Ajinkya Rahane in very quick succession. West zone lost there top 3 Batsman for just 16 runs. A 48-run stand between Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan help to get some Momentum for West Zone.

Het Patel unbeaten  96 off 178 balls and Jaydev Unadkat unbeaten 39 off 64 balls saves West Zone from getting all out On Day 1 of Duleep Trophy Final as the pair added unbeaten 83 runs partnership for ninth wicket that helped West zone to reach 250/8 by the end of Duleep Trophy Final Day 1.

South Zone makes a good start with the ball

After getting invited to bowl first by West zone. South Zone got a perfect start as their fast bowler Basil Thampi (2/42) and Cheepurapalli Stephen (2/39) get rid of west zone top order very quickly. The left arm spinner R Sai Kishore blew away the west zone middle order as he manage to take 3 important wickets of Shreyas Iyer 37(63), Sarfaraz Khan 34(117) and Shams Mulani 0(10) and finishes with the figure of 3/80 on Duleep Trophy Final Day 1.
